Terms & Conditions

Thank you for entrusting the care and attention of your horse to Beningbrough Equine Veterinary Practice. This document details our practice Terms and Conditions of Business.

Registration: It is essential for us to maintain accurate records of our clients and patients. If your details change, please inform us so we may ensure our database is as up to date as possible.

Data Protection: We promise to only use clients' details for the purpose of our business. We will not pass any details onto any third parties, unless detailed below, without your permission.

Clinical Records: Your horse's clinical records, including radiographs, ultrasound scan records and laboratory test reports remain the property of Beningbrough Equine Veterinary Practice and will be kept under the terms of the Data Protection Act (1998). You are entitled to see the records on request and if necessary an appropriate appointment to view them will be made.

Fees: All fees, diets and drug charges are subject to VAT at the current rate. Fee levels are determined by the time spent on a case, consumables and diets used. We will endeavour to give an estimate of any treatment before we carry it out. Please be aware that this is only an ESTIMATE and may be exceeded as an animals' illness may not always follow a predictable course. We will attempt to contact you should the treatment costs rise above 20% of the estimated amount. If this is not possible and to delay treatment would jeopardise the animal's care we will continue treatment.

Repeat examinations: It is necessary both for the welfare of your horse and to meet legal obligations, for this practice to re-examine animals receiving long term medications. The standard interval for medication re-examinations is 3 months: this initially may be less but at no time will be longer than 6 months. The prevailing examination fee will be charged for that consultation.

Payment & Settlement terms: We reserve the right to ask any client to prepay for treatment notwithstanding the terms within the guidelines. Itemised invoices will be provided for work carried out. New clients are requested to settle accounts at the time of the consultation for the first 3 consultations. You may settle your account using cash, credit card, debit card or bank online transfer. After the third consultation clients will be invoiced and payment will be due within 14 days of the invoice. Should an account not be settled, a reminder will be sent. After due notice to you, the client, overdue accounts will be subject to our debt collection procedure and further charges may be levied in respect to costs incurred. If payment is not forth coming then the debt will be forwarded to a collection agency or county court. We reserve the right that any client with an outstanding debt, in order to receive further goods or services must prepay or provided guaranteed payment at the time of consultation. Bad debtors will be removed from our client list.

Animal Insurance: Beningbrough Equine Veterinary Practice strongly encourages all our clients to consider adequate insurance for their animals. Clients are reminded that animal insurance is a contract between you, the client, and the insurance company. Please be aware that it is your responsibility to settle our account and then reclaim fees from your insurance company. It is sometimes possible for us to accept direct claims from selected insurance companies. If an insurance claim is unsuccessful the individual client will be expected to pay all costs associated with the care of their animal.

Consent: Written and signed consent for procedures carried out on your animal is required. Consent is also required for the use of medications in species for which they are not licensed. In this case a consent form will be provided to allow this to be done without asking permission in each and every specific case.

Complaints: We hope you never have recourse to complain about the standards of service received from Beningbrough Equine Veterinary Practice. However, if you feel the service has not reached the required standard then please speak initially to the person treating the animal. If the issue is not satisfactorily resolved then please raise the matter in writing with the Practice Principle.
