About Beningbrough EquineWe are a small, purely equine ambulatory practice conveniently located between York and Harrogate, close to the M1 and A1 (M) giving us quick and easy access over a large area of Yorkshire.
As a small local practice, we pride ourselves on our high quality, friendly and personal service. We really take the time to get to know you and your horses' needs. Our philosophy is that all horses deserve the highest standard of care, which is personalised to your horses individual needs.
Our vet Tom's love of all things equine developed at a very young age. His family had horses and his older sister was a keen show-jumper, not wanting to be left out Tom was riding as soon as he was able. This started a life-long passion for horses that has only strengthened over time.
Tom studied to be a veterinary surgeon at Edinburgh University, Royal Dick School of Veterinary Studies, graduating in 2006. Since then, Tom has 10 years veterinary experience working in equine practices across the United Kingdom and in the USA, most recently at a large equine practice in Manchester.
With great working relationships with vets at large equine hospitals across the country Tom is able to easily refer your horse or pony to one of the top referral centres, if the need arises.
Tom's veterinary interests cover all aspects of equine general practice. After time spent working in wound healing research, Tom has furthered this specialist interest and developed his expertise in equine wound healing.
Always on the look out to enhance his knowledge and remain at the forefront of veterinary advances, Tom takes every opportunity to develop his expertise and knowledge and is currently working towards his Post Graduate Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice.
Tom is always keen to share his wealth of knowledge with the local equestrian community, and has previously given talks and lectures to pony and riding clubs, regional BHS groups and specialist interest groups. If this is something you are interested in, please feel free to drop us an email.
